A combined force of law enforcement officers descended on Red Creek last week to find a 15-year-old Jones County girl who had been missing for several days.
Courtney Dawn Beech, of Ovett, was found with 20-year-old Perkinston resident Bradley Simon.
The pair had been hiding in a tent in woods off Red Creek, apparently since Beech went missing May 1.
Stone/Wiggins Narcotics Task Force Capt. Jay Green said his task force, along with Jones County Sheriff Department deputies, Mississippi State Highway Patrol officers, Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officers and Harrison County Sheriff Department deputies had been scouring the woods for the pair.
A Harrison County SD helicopter flushed the pair out of hiding.
"We probably wouldn't have found them if they hadn't emerged from the woods and started walking on the railroad tracks," he said.
Simon has been charged with kidnapping in Jones County and could face other charges in Stone County.
"The investigation is still ongoing," Green said.
Beech's mother had been asking for help in finding her daughter since she went missing, posting her photo and description to Facebook.
"Simon took a taxi all the way to Jones County and then had the driver drop them off at the Red Creek bridge on Hwy. 49," Green said. "Simon knows the area since he has lived in the Perk Beach RV park."
There had been a history with Beech and Simon with Simon having been charged with telephone harassment and cyber harassment since the pair began an online relationship.
Simon has also found himself in trouble with the law in Stone County on other matters, according to Green.
Green said the operation to find Beech was a perfect example of law enforcement agencies working together.
