Hit your mark, deliver your line, let's block this scene.

Local actors are hard at it in preparation for, "We Gather Together," a play telling the story of this place we call home.

Told in 18 scenes, the story was written by Tonya Hayes based on oral histories collected from Stone County residents.

"It's exhausting, but it's fun," said Alexis Nichols, who has several parts in the production. "I've learned a lot about things I had no idea had happened.

"Several of the scenes are funny and a couple of them are sad."

Rehearsals have been taking place thrice weekly since April 4.

Full-cast rehearsals begin on a daily basis the first week of May.

Director Daisha Walker is still seeking actors to play non-speaking roles in crowd scenes.

Music will be provided by the Pine Hill Dulcimers.

The first performance of the play will be performed in a matinee for Stone County 5th-graders May 19.

There will be a dinner show that evening with the meal served at The Barn at 5:30 p.m. and the show in Malone Hall at 7.

Tickets for the dinner theater are $25.

There will also be an evening performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at Malone Hall and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22.

Cost of admission for those shows is $10 for adults, $5 for children.
There is no charge for children under the age of 3-years.
