Wanda Smith

Mrs. Wanda A. Smith, 66 of the Carnes Community, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Smith was the owner and operator of The Frog Crossing in Bond. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Carnes and she liked being outdoors working in her flowerbeds.
A husband, Danny Simmons; parents, William “Mac” Dearman and Elizabeth “Sis” Sanchez; stepfather, Chilton “Black” Sanchez; and one brother, Wallace “Buddy-High-Pockets” Dearman preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Alex G. Smith of Carnes; four daughters, Connie D. (Dan) DeKeyzer of West Point, Ga., Cindy (David) Smith of Wiggins, Tanya Dillon of New Augusta, and Latosha (Brian) Sanford of Seminary; one son, William Craig Davis of Carnes; two step-sons, Jason Smith of Richton and Jeremy Smith of Richton; one brother Danny (Mae) Dearman of Brooklyn; one sister, Sue Vallet of Port Allen, La.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 11 at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins. Interment followed in Bounds Cemetery in the Carnes Community.
The family wishes to thank Stone County Hospital and staff, Forrest General Hospital and staff, and Forrest General Hospice and staff for the excellent care provided to our loved one. Also a special thank you to Maxine Odom, RN, of Forrest General Hospice for the excellent care and concern for our loved one. Maxine has been with us through the death of three other family members, words cannot express our gratitude.
