Mrs. Ione Lee died Tues., Sept. 11, 2012.
Mrs. Lee was a lifelong resident of Carnes. She was an employee of the Post Office at Camp Shelby during WWII and was employed by Movie Star for 20 years. She provided love and care for her children and grandchildren in her home whenever needed, she never retired from that position.
Mrs. Lee provided an atmosphere in her home where people loved to gather for friendship, stories, love and food. The things she enjoyed most were the times she spent with her grandchildren, entering the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes and waiting for that "check". The comfort and safety of her home and the best biscuits in Forrest County will always have a special place in our hearts. We learned many things taking care of our mom during her final days: Never take anything for granted, true appreciation of the quote, "a house is made of brick and stone but a home is made of love alone".
Her parents, William and Leona Havard; her husband, Nathan R. Lee; her son, Dale Allen Lee; her grandson, Joseph Cospelich; her sisters, Thelma Morris, Merley Landrum, Lessie Simmons, Wilma Hoadley (MiMi); and her brother Nolan Havard, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Freddy (Sheron) Lee of Hammond La.; daughters, Diane Byxbe of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Barbara (Jerry) Horne of Carnes and Deborah Clements of Dixie; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren.
A special thanks to Maxine and Liz of Forrest General Hospice and Jan Baggett who helped our mother remain close to us on her journey home.
Donations can be made in memory of Ione Lee to Forrest General Hospice-1414 South 28th Ave. Hattiesburg, MS 39401.
Funeral services were held Fri., Sept. 14 at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins. Interment followed in Lee-Mill Creek Cemetery in Carnes.
Moore Funeral Service of Wiggins was in charge of arrangements.
