RICHTON - Rene Forrester of McHenry was named Grand Champion in the Pecan Festival Fiddle Contest in Richton Saturday.
Forrester had won first place in the youth division last year.
Her performance included "Breakfast Reel" and "Star of the County Down."
Forrester also won a first-place award at last year's Bear Creek Festival at the Lynn Meadows Center.

The 12-year-old has studied under Jerry Johnston of Gulfport for seven years and is not sure what role fiddling will ultimately play in her life.
"I don't really know, exactly," she said. "I'm just going to go where the Lord leads me."
Teresa Forrester, Rene's mother, said her daughter has been a source of pride.
"It's an honor to have her as a daughter," she said. "She loves life and she loves the Lord."
