A pecan tree with a rotten trunk succumbed to high winds last Thursday and crashed into the Wiggins Police Department on First Street.
It came as a shock to Investigator Roger Freeman following a bomb threat the previous week.
"It shook the whole building," he said. "I thought maybe the bomb finally went off."
The tree crashed into the north end of the building, punching holes through the roof and appearing to have broken several roof beams.
Incredibly, no windows were broken and Chief Matt Barnett was not in his office, which took the brunt of the damage.
City work crews spent a good portion of the morning removing the tree.
