ON STONE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT LANDS
SEALED bids will be received by the Stone County Board of Education at the School District Office, 214 N. Critz St. Wiggins, MS 39577 up to and not later than 4:00 p.m. April 8th, 2019, for the purchase on a per-ton basis for all timber, standing or down, designated for harvesting in Section 16, Township 3 South, Range 10 West, Stone County, Mississippi, Each bidder is expected to make their own cruise and to bid accordingly.
Before bids are submitted, full information concerning the timber, the condition of sale and the submission of bids should be obtained from the Area Forester (Sam Morgan) MS Forestry Commission, 14601 County Farm Road, Gulfport, MS 39503 telephone number 601-528-0544 or the Assistant Regional Forester, telephone number 601-528-4873. The right to reject any and all bids reserved.
The sale is for a pay-as-cut-buyer-select thinning operation of a + 129 acre slash pine plantation which includes row/corridor/select thinning. The area was hand planted and is 21 years old. It has an average merchantable height of 30 feet and an average DbH of 8.1 inches. At present the average basal area is 102 square feet per acre. Where rows can be distinguished every fifth row will be taken for haul and skid purposes. where rows are not distinguishable corridors 15 feet wide will be harvested and utilized as haul and skid rows. The width between corridors will be 50 feet. The timber will be thinned to an average of 65 square feet of basal area per acre. Trees designated for sale are those , pulpwood, and chip-n-saw size trees not needed to form an average basal area of 65 square feet per acre. Such leave basal area shall consist of evenly distributed trees of saw-log or potential sawing quality. The buyer is expected to select diseased, damaged, and/or stems with undesirable form from the rows to be thinned. Bids will be on a per ton basis for the following products: pine pulpwood, pine chip-n-saw, pine sawtimber, and hardwood pulpwood.
