After 11 school district employees test positive for COVID-19 this past week, three staff members and 176 Stone County students remain quarantined.
Superintendent Inita Owen said the district reported three positive staff and nine positive students, which resulted in the quarantine.
Owen said the students in quarantine include team members on the Stone High School football team and the SHS boys’ soccer team.
The district has reported an increase in positives and the number of students quarantined in the past three weeks as numbers arise across Mississippi and the nation.
As of Sunday, Nov. 15, the Mississippi State Department of Health has reported 138,898 cases and 3,545 deaths.
Stone County has reported 632 total cases, and 14 deaths total, according to MSDH.
Since January, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting nearly 11 million total cases and 245,470 deaths. Over one million recent cases and 8,443 deaths have been reported in the past week.
