Wiggins, MS, June 17, 2021 – With the development of Invest 92L in the Gulf and the prediction of up to ten inches of rain that may lead to dangerous flooding, the De Soto National Forest has closed all river landings on Black Creek, as well as Big Biloxi Recreation Area near Saucier. After passage of the tropical system, recreation areas will be reopened after they have been assessed for damage and deemed suitable for safe public use.
Visitors should also be aware that other recreation sites, such as trails, trailheads, and day use areas, may be impacted by the tropical system and need to be closed. Before visiting, please contact the De Soto Ranger District at (601) 528-6160 for up to date closure information. Alternately, visit the National Forests in Mississippi website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/mississippi/ or follow us on Facebook @USFSMississippi.
