A southbound train collided with a Dodge minivan as the Dodge was crossing the railroad tracks at the intersection of Highway 49 North and Pump Branch Road in Bond on April 11, around 2:30 p.m.

Law enforcement officers on the scene said that at least three vehicle occupants were transported for medical treatment. A Stone County Sheriff's Office Deputy said he could not comment further on the extent of their injuries or the nature of the accident.

Two bystanders said they heard the train blow its air horn and brakes squealing before the collision.

Resident Ella Hall, who lives across the street from the railroad crossing, was outside when the accident occurred. Hall said she saw the minivan almost cross the train tracks before the train hit the rear half of the vehicle on the driver's side. She then called 9-1-1.

An AMR ambulance was seen leaving the intersection around 3:30. Officers from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Wiggins Fire Department, the Stone County Sheriff's Department, and the Wiggins Police Department responded.

The Enterprise staff will update this story as more details become available.
