New woman-owned business aims to bring 'big retail bin' experience to Wiggins

There’s a brand new business opening in Wiggins this Saturday — it’s woman-owned and operated, and it’s geared to offer something for every member of the family.

Heather Obomsawin and Laura Rester invite everyone to the grand opening celebration from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. this Saturday at Crate & Pallet Co., located at 1952 Hwy. 49 North in Wiggins.

“We call it a ‘Retail Bin Shopping Experience,’” Crate & Pallet Social Media Manager Sherry Morris said this week. "We will get in a truckload each week from the world’s largest online retailer, unload all of the pallets of items onto crate tables, and have a sale every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with storewide price drops every two hours!”

“There’s a huge variety of items, anything from hairstyling tools to toys and learning games, electronics, home decor, to sporting goods, pet supplies, hardware tools — basically, anything a family could want. There will always be something for everybody!”

This concept is something new to Wiggins. Morris said the idea stems from other “bin stores” — mainly in Florida — “where stores let people dig through their bins of merchandise all throughout the week.

“Crate & Pallet will be a more upscale version with high quality items, and we will keep things efficient by doing it all in one day each week. The owners wanted to take the bin store idea, then make it even bigger and better! This is definitely for customers who don’t mind searching for a good deal.”

Crate & Pallet Co. will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each Saturday, beginning April 10. Be sure to get there early!
