Ramsey Springs General Store is making a strong comeback with their fifth annual community event. The Ramsey Springs Rummage and Craft Sale is a community yard sale that will take place on Saturday, April 24, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Ramsey General Store at 11 Cut-Off Road in Perkinston.
Alisa Mari, the event coordinator and General Store manager, said many come to look through the yard sale and then eat lunch at the store.
Each year, a variety of vendors sell everything from crafts, antiques, animals, clothes, and even baked goods.
The free event usually draws several hundred people from all over South Mississippi.
More than just a large yard sale, the event is also a time to connect and visit with neighbors and family.
“Half the time, it’s a family reunion for us,” Mari said.
Last year, the Ramsey Springs Rummage and Craft Sale was canceled because of COVID-19 restrictions and concerns.
Mari said, so far, the event is lined up to be as busy as previous years.
“We are expecting 30 vendors, if not more,” Mari said.
During the event, Mari said the General Store will sell sandwiches, hamburgers, po-boys, fried catfish, club sandwiches, and more.
Mari said, in the past, the store has served 50 hamburgers in half an hour one day.
There will also be a baked goods booth to benefit community member Torrie Gibbs’ niece, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
All proceeds raised from the bake sales will go toward twelve-year-old Mileah Walters’ Leukemia treatments.
Walters lives with her father, Trae Walters, in Cache, Oklahoma.
Gibbs said her niece is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital at OU Health in Oklahoma City.
The family will sell baked goods, bracelets, lanyards and t-shirts to raise money for medical bills. The silicone awareness bracelets will be $1 each. The lanyards will be one for $10 and two for $15.
Any prospective vendors may contact the General Store at 601-928-7551 for more information.
