Teamwork between Homeland Security and the Stone County Sheriff’s Department has led to the arrest of a county man on child pornography charges.

Deputies raided the home of 24-year-old Dexter Kimsey at 145 DeSoto Rd. June 11 after receiving a search warrant based on evidence collected by an agent with Homeland Security.

“A Homeland Security agent had been having conversations with the suspect and he had shared some pictures with the agent,” said SCSD Investigator Candace Stewart. “based on that, we were able to obtain a search warrant.

“During the search, we recovered cell phones and iPads from which we recovered sexually explicit photos of children.”

The discovery of those photos has led to a more in-depth investigation which will involve Federal agents.

Kimsey appeared before Justice Court Judge Ricky Farmer for an initial hearing on a felony charge of causing a child under the age of 18 to engage in sexual conduct.

He was given a bond of $75,000 and, as of Monday afternoon, remained lodged at the Stone County Regional Correctional Facility.

Stewart said more charges could be brought as the investigation continues.

In addition, Stewart arrested 45-year-old Ralph Diaz, III after a traffic stop and subsequent search of his vehicle turned up 1.7 grams of methamphetamine.
