The Stone Middle School football teams will close out their 2019 seasons when Pass Christian visits Thursday.

The 7th-grade Tomcats improved to 3-2 with a 16-6 victory over Poplarville last Thursday.

K.J. Galloway hit Jay’Dyn Brown and Jakylon Green with touchdown passes to outpace the Hornets.

“The kids played really well,” said coach Jason Jones. “We have not played well against Poplarville in the past and this time we really got after them defensively.”

He credited Green and Adan Jiminez with outstanding defensive efforts.

“They’re all learning to play their assignments better,” he said.

The 8th-graders evened their record at 3-3 while falling, 14-8, to the Hornets.

Their only score came when Ray Dennis hit Brandon Montgomery with a touchdown pass.

“We were winning that game, 8-6, for about two-and-a-half quarters,” Jones said. “The team played well and, while you always want to get the win, there was improvement to be seen.”

Game times are 5 p.m. for the 7th-graders with the 8th-grade game to follow.
