The Stone High football team will travel to Seminary Friday to take on the defending South State champion Bulldogs.
“They’re a smaller school, but they’ve got a tradition of winning and they’ll be ready,” said Tomcats coach John Feaster. “We need to go up there with the mindset that we can win and we will win.”
The Bulldogs opened the season with a 19-14 victory over Collins last Friday.
If that game was any indication, the Bulldogs play a strong defense and grind things out on offense.
While no running back put up huge numbers, as a team, Seminary carried the ball 53 times for 196 yards; a 3.7 yards-per-carry average.
Stone will need to sharpen its passing game, which was woeful in last week’s loss to Gulfport.
The Bulldogs intercepted five Collins passes and deflected six more.
When defending the run, the Bulldogs made 16 tackles for loss.
