The Wiggins Masonic Lodge No. 481 will install officers for the new year on Saturday, January 7 at 5 p.m.

Chartered in 1907, the Masonic Lodge of Wiggins is a private lodge or constituent lodge and is the basic organizational unit of freemasonry.

Mason Ben Wright said he is excited to see the "handing over of the jewels." Annually, the Lodge installs six members to hold executive office.

The positions to be filled are as follows: Worshipful Master, Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Treasurer, Secretary and Sentinel.

"Our main goal is to help the community and to take good men and make them better," Wright said.

On the first Saturday of every month, the Masons cook and serve breakfast for a $10 donation. The masons raise money for the local food bank, Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. They also collect coats and other warm clothing during the winter months for families in need.

The installation of officers meeting is open to the public. A meal will be served. Wiggins Masonic Lodge is located at 129 S. First Street.
