Dewayne Alexander, 66, was born on July 19, 1953. He went to see the Lord on December 27, 2019. Dewayne was a beloved family man and hard worker. He was an active member of Vardaman Street Baptist Church and loved his church family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virtus Ray and Bessie Mae Alexander of Big Level, MS; and two brothers, Vernon Ray Alexander and Fred Allen Alexander.
He is survived by a big beautiful blended family: his wife, Sharon Alexander; son, Jeremy Dewayne Alexander (Mellanie); daughter, Janessa Mae Miles (Jody); three step-daughters, Jennifer Rodgers (Brian), Audrey Loper (Donnie), and Heather Berry (Ben); 10 grandchildren, Ansley Sanders—“Miss Priss,” Brady Alexander—“Whistle Britches,” Kyndall Miles—“Sweet Pea,” Charleigh Miles—“CJ,” Colin Rodgers—“Tater,” Keith Hickman, Rainey Loper, Morgan McKie—“Punkin” (Hoover), Kaitlyn Martin—“Booger,” Oliver Berry—“Buster;” three great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kennedy, and Baby Swayze to arrive in February; four siblings, Florence Rawls (Claudell); Dimple Hickman (Estus); Helen Walker (Ralph); James “Sambo” Alexander (Penny); two sister-n-laws, Linda Cox and Libby Alexander; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dewayne enjoyed spending time with family, working on the farm, and traveling. He especially loved picking on people and making others laugh. He had a joy for life that did not go unnoticed. Family and friends will sorely miss him.
A Gathering of Friends was held at Vardaman Street Baptist Church LaVay Crawley Family Life Center on Friday, January 3, 2019. Moore Funeral Service in Wiggins was in charge of the arrangements.
