Joe Raymond, Sr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Bennie Raymond, Sr., 76 of Saucier. He passed away March 17, 2020 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. Joe was born to Noland and Minnie (Clark) Raymond on April 15, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Casey Davis; a brother, Irving Stokes; daughter in law, Phyllis Raymond and sister in law, Goldie Raymond. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Peggie Raymond; children, Sylvia Raymond, Joe Raymond, Jr., Adam Raymond, Beverly (Rich) Beahr, Angela Anthony, Michael Raymond, Penelope (Chris) Murphy, Tony Raymond, Heather Raymond, Kelly Raymond, Justin Raymond, Shelly Raymond, Matthew Raymond, Maci Raymond and Miki Raymond; siblings, Terri (Jim) Savage, Noland Raymond, Jr., James (Twin) Raymond, Roy Raymond, Donnie Jean (Ernest) Boudreaux and Shirly Stokes; countless grandchildren, great grands, and great-great grands, along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that all held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly. Joe grew up in the Gulfport/Saucier area and called the Mississippi Gulf Coast his home. As a child, Joe enjoyed playing cowboys and Indians. He tied many a relative up for being a horse thief! He later joined the Army Reserve where he proudly served his country. Joe had a great since of humor and a plethora of bad jokes! He and Peggie married the day after Thanksgiving but don’t ask him the date….it was always celebrated the day after Thanksgiving each year. Joe was the founder of JBR Music, Joe’s TV Repair and the Raymond gang. He was a person of faith and lived life serving others especially his children. He was a devoted father that strived to both do and be the best for his children. A trip with Joe to Wal-Mart or McDonalds was always an adventure for him and his gang. A man of many talents from playing guitars at gigs, driving a school bus, to leaving you with a smile on your face, Joe’s memory will be forever etched in our hearts. This is not goodbye but until we meet again. Services were held Friday March 20th at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. The family will have a private interment at Poplar Head Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made thru the website to help the family with final expenses.
